The Sofia Literature and Translation House provides creative residencies to translators who work out of Bulgarian language into any language of the world as well as to writers. Located in the former home of the renowned painter Nenko Balkanski (1907-1977), the House functions also as a cultural centre, offering workshops on literary translation and creative writing, public discussions, book launches, events with children and the youth, a small library. It acts as a physical and a virtual hub for Bulgarian and international writers and literary translators.
The programme of the Sofia Literature and Translation House is managed by the Next Page Foundation at the premises provided by the Sofia Municipality and the Sofia History Museum.

Residents are accommodated year-long in apartments in the city of Sofia or in the attic room of the House itself. The House offers also a joint working space and access to its library. Residents are introduced to the literary and cultural scene of Sofia, to new professional contacts, to libraries and research centres along with the possibility of having specific meetings with key figures and cultural organisations relevant to the work of the resident.
