Logan Febuary reflects on their consumption and transfiguration of Marina Abramović’s works through their own art and writing. February describes their artistic and academic relationship to Abramović’s work as “a form of ekphrastic translation”. In particular, the 1997 performance Spirit Cooking is an inspiration, a template for presenting pain and violence as art, on the artist’s own terms. Drawing on influences from Abramović to Sakaya Murata and other essays in this series, February explores the subversive, queer and empowering potential of different forms of cannibalistic ceremonies.
